[edit]

From shell +‎ -less.

Adjective

[edit]

shell-less (not comparable)

  1. Lacking a shell.

The suffix -less is not usually hyphenated, but the hyphenated spelling here may be preferred in order to avoid the unusual juxtaposition of three of the same consonant.
