From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *krep-, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *ker-p-, *krep- (“to crack, crash”), an onomatopoeic root. Cognate to Latin crepo (“to resound, ring, tone”). A formation with the prefix sh-.
