[edit]Prefixed form of *pat, from Proto-Albanian *pata, cognate to Greek πίπτω (pípto, “to fall”), Sanskrit पतति (pátati, “to fly, to sour”).[1] Alternatively from shpatull (“shoulder”).[2]
