Borrowed from New Latin symbiosis, from Ancient Greek σῠμβῐ́ωσῐς (sumbíōsis, a living together, companionship), from συμβιόω (sumbióō, to live together), from συν- (sun-, with) + βῐ́ος (bíos, life).
