skrim (countable and uncountable, plural skrims)

  1. A loose-weave fabric made of fiberglass, used for insulation.
    • 1983, Belvoir Research and Development Center (U.S.), Historical Review, page 34:
      A fiberglass skrim insulator was layed[sic] on.
      • The aluminum honeycomb was layed on each surface of the rhombus.
      • A second fiberglass skrim cloth was layed on.
    • 1988, Plumbing Engineer - Volume 16, page 52:
      The complete jacket is a lamination of kraft paper, fiberglass cloth (skrim) and either aluminum foil or metalized film.
    • 2000, RIBA Journal - Volume 107, page 39:
