Swedish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Swedish snitkare, snidhkare, from Middle Low German sniddeker, snidker, snicker. Cognate of Danish snedker and Norwegian Bokmål snekker.
By surface analysis, snicka + -are. The dialectal verb snicka is from Old Swedish snikka, from Old Norse *sníðka, from sníða (from whence also snida).
