suit costs pl (plural only)

  1. (Nova Scotia, law) An award granted by a court in a family law case requiring one party to pay some or all of another party's costs of the proceedings before the court. Unlike most other legal costs awards, suit costs are required to be paid while the case is ongoing, rather than after the matter has concluded.
