Etymology[edit]

From Middle English sumerlich, sumerlic, from Old English sumorlīc, sumerlīċ (summerly), equivalent to summer +‎ -ly. Cognate with Dutch zomerlijk (summerly), German sommerlich (summerly), Danish sommerlig (summerly), Swedish sommarlik (summerly).
