Borrowed from Gujarati [script needed] (tankh, “cistern, underwater water reservour”), from Marathi [script needed] (tanken) or Gujarati [script needed] (tanka, “cistern”), ultimately from Sanskrit तडग (taḍaga, “pond”).[1]
