English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

technical (representing technical fabric) + tee (elliptical for tee shirt)

Noun[edit]

technical tee (plural technical tees)

  1. A T-shirt made of a technical fabric (such as CoolMax) which draws sweat away from the skin by capillary action.
    • 2008, Katie McDonald Neitz, Runner’s World Guide to Road Racing[1], page 27:
Short sleeves, a sleeveless singlet, or (for women) as little as a sports bra provides the minimum upper-body coverage. While it may look like a classic T-shirt, a short-sleeved top in a technical fabric like CoolMax will pull sweat away from the skin instead of absorbing it like cotton does. This added comfort, combined with sun protection, can make a technical tee a better choice than no shirt at all.
