Via some other European language, ultimately from Late Latin toxicus ‎(poisoned), from Latin toxicum ‎(poison), from Ancient Greek τοξικόν ‎(toxikón) φάρμακον ‎(phármakon, poison for use on arrows), from τόξον ‎(tóxon, bow).
