Etymology

From Proto-Vietic *g-lɔːn (round, full (moon)); cognate with Muong tlòn. Compare Proto-Katuic *-lɔɔn (to shape into a ball), Khasi pyllon (round), Proto-Hmong-Mien *ɢlun (round) (whence Iu Mien junh (round, circular)).
