Romanian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Either from a Vulgar Latin root *vēscidus, from Latin vēscus, or more likely from Late Latin viscidus (deriving from an alternative meaning closer to that of bitter or sour as opposed to sticky), from Latin viscum.[1] Compare also Albanian vjeshtë (“fall, autumn”).
