Etymology

A diminutive in -th, based on Proto-Albanian *wīja (twisted, woven), from *weh₁yos (twisted), ultimately from *weh₁y- (to twist, to twine). Cognate to Latin vīeō, Sanskrit वयति (váyati), Lithuanian výti, Proto-Slavic *viti.[1]
