whaap (plural whaaps)

  1. (Britain, Scotland, dialect) The European curlew; called also awp, whaup, great whaup, and stock whaup.
  2. (Britain, Scotland, dialect) The whimbrel; called also May whaup, little whaup, and tang whaup.
