The Indo-European root is also the source of Latin ambi-, Ancient Greek ἀμφί (amphí), Old Irish imb, Sanskrit अभि (abhí, towards, over, upon), Old Persian 𐎠𐎲𐎡𐎹 (abiy, towards, against, upon).
