[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish یوقلق (yoḳluḳ, “absence, non-existence, lack”),[1][2] from Ottoman Turkish یوق (yoḳ, “absent, not present, non-existent”), from Proto-Turkic *yōk (“is not, there is not”),[3][4] morphologically yok + -luk.
