Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek ἐρεύγομαι (ereúgomai) through the aorist ἐρεύχθην (ereúkhthēn) to the Byzantine Greek ἐρεύτην (ereútēn) and present tense with -ομαι.[1][2]
