[edit]Learned borrowing from Koine Greek σῠντονίᾱ (suntoníā, “harmony (of sounds; (ancient) intensity”) + -ίζω (-ízo), with semantic loan from German abstimmen (“(reflexive) to synchronize”).[1]
For the "syntonize" meaning, reborrowing and semantic loan from French syntoniser.
