Verb

הִרְכִּיב • (hirkív) third-singular masculine past (hif'il construction)

1. (transitive) to seat (someone) on an animal or in a vehicle, cause (someone) to ride
   • Tanach, 1 Kings 1:38, with translation of the King James Version:

     וַיֵּרֶד צָדוֹק הַכֹּהֵן וְנָתָן הַנָּבִיא וּבְנָיָהוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָע וְהַכְּרֵתִי וְהַפְּלֵתִי וַיַּרְכִּבוּ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹה עַל־פִּרְדַּת הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִד וַיֹּלִכוּ אֹתוֹ עַל־גִּחוֹן׃

     vayéred tsadók hakohén v'natán hanaví uv'nayáhu ben-y'hoyadá v'hak'reití v'hap'leití vayarkivú et-sh'lomó al-pirdát hamélekh davíd vayolíkhu otó al-gikhón:

     So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.

     הִרְכַּבְתָּ אֱנוֹשׁ לְרֹאשֵׁנוּ בָּאנוּ־בָאֵשׁ וּבַמַּיִם וַתּוֹצִיאֵנוּ לָרְוָיָה׃

     hirkávta enósh l'roshéinu bánu-va'ésh uvamáyim vatotsi'éinu lar'vayá.

     Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

3. (transitive) to graft (a branch) onto a tree
4. (transitive) to crossbreed (an animal) with another animal
5. (transitive) to assemble
6. (transitive) to don, wear (glasses, spectacles)
