نیم بوسه (nim buse)

  1. "half a kiss"; a very short kiss
    • c. 1020, Farrukhī Sīstānī, دیوان فرخی [The Dīvān of Farrukhī]:
      به نیم بوسه ز من خواستی هزار سجود
      به یک جواب ز من خواستی هزار سؤال
      ba nīm bōsa zi man xwāstī hazār sujūd
      ba yak jawāb zi man xwāstī hazār su'āl
      For half a kiss, you demanded a thousand prostrations from me;
      For one answer, you demanded a thousand questions from me.
      (Classical Persian transliteration)
    • c. 1390, Shams-ud-Dīn Muḥammad Ḥāfiẓ, “Ghazal 155”, in دیوان حافظ [The Divān of Ḥāfiẓ]‎[1]:
      و گر کنم طلب نیم بوسه صد افسوس
      ز حقه دهنش چون شکر فروریزد
      wa gar kunam talab-i nīm bōsa sad afsōs
      zi huqqa-yi dahan-aš čōn šikar furō rēzad
      And if I ask for half a kiss, a hundred regrets
      Pour down like sugar from the jewel-box of her mouth.
      (Classical Persian transliteration)
