Etymology

Inherited from Old Marathi सीकणे (sīkaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀙𑀺𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀇 (chikkaï), from Sanskrit छिक्कन (chikkana, sneezing), probably of onomatopoeic origin. Cognate to Gujarati છીંકવું (chī̃kvũ), Hindi छींकना (chī̃knā).
