Etymology

Inherited from Prakrit 𑀧𑀽𑀭𑀬 (pūraya), from Sanskrit पूरक (pūraka). Cognate with Assamese পূৰা (pura), Odia ପୂରା (purā), Hindustani پورا / पूरा (pūrā), Nepali पुरो (puro), Punjabi ਪੂਰਾ (pūrā), and distantly, English full. Doublet of পূরক (purok).
