From お花(はな) (o-hana) + 摘(つ)み (tsumi, “連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 摘(つ)む (tsumu).”). Literally "flower-picking", from how women crouch.

お花(はな) (o-hana) is a more feminine expression than 花(はな) (hana).
