Usage notes[edit]

Derived verbs formed from prefixes ending with a consonant use the root form -ыгра́ть (-ygrátʹ) so that the prefix consonant remains non-palatal. (Compare the hard sign that appears between consonant-ending prefixes and roots beginning with /j/.)
