Usage notes[edit]
- Generally used of food or edible things, but can humorously be applied to anything to describe its very unpleasant nature. For example:
- พูดจาหมาไม่แดก
- pûut-jaa mǎa-mâi-dɛ̀ɛk
- (literally) "to speak [in a manner that even] a dog can't eat"
meaning "to speak very unpleasantly"
- หน้าตาหมาไม่แดก
- nâa-dtaa mǎa-mâi-dɛ̀ɛk
- (literally) "face and eyes [that even] a dog can't eat"
meaning "very unpleasant facial appearance" or "very unpleasant facial expression"
