Numerale n (strong, genitive Numerales or Numerale, plural Numeralia or Numeralien or Numerale)

  1. (grammar) numeral, number
    1. sensu stricto: either a cardinal numeral (cardinal number, cardinal) or an ordinal numeral (ordinal number, ordinal)
    2. sensu lato (younger): every word which represents a number

Usage notes[edit]

  • The plural Numerale is younger and rarer.

Declension[edit]

Note: Earlier (at least until the 19th century) Numerale was also declined like Latin numerāle and one can for example find "von den Numeralibus".
