Etymology[edit]
A calque of the Dutch prinsenvlag, from prins (“prince”) + vlag (“flag”), so called because it was based on the Flag of Prince William of Orange-Nassau.
Proper noun[edit]
- A Dutch historical flag, originally used by the Dutch Republic during the Eighty Years War, with three horizontal stripes: orange, white, and blue.
