Do people actually say this in restaurants? Sounds weird to me. In Australia we would probably just say, "can I get a menu please?" or "menu, please". ---> Tooironic 01:54, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

There are a few ways to say the same thing. Instead of "bring me" - show me..., can I have ...?, etc. The phrasebook serves as a demo how to say phrases as well. To overcome the translations issue , we have {{checktrans}} and {{ttbc}}. Since I added most translations for this entry, I may take care of this. --Anatoli 04:29, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

If they would be wrong under a more natural title, then they would have been wrong to begin with, IMO. The goals of the phrasebook are still somewhat unclear, but surely word-for-word translation is not among them. -- Visviva 05:07, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

"...surely word-for-word translation is not among them". I had this in mind too but there are perfect word-for-word equivalents and even if the entry is renamed, many translations can be kept. In the new CFI we should mention that the phrase with a specific purpose should be the most common or natural. --Anatoli 05:46, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Delete "please bring a menu" per low number of Google hits and b.g.c. hits: google:"please bring a menu": 95, google books:"please bring a menu": 5. The use case of requesting a menu is a valid one, but the phrasebook needs to contain native-sounding phrases, not phrases coined by non-native English speakers.--Dan Polansky 09:06, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
