Etymology[edit]

From hoch (high, up, upwards) +‎ schlafen (to sleep), as an alteration of hocharbeiten (to work one’s way up).

  1. (reflexive) to ascend to a higher professional position by having sexual relations with somebody, e.g. one’s boss; to sleep one's way up
