Basque[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Compound of izen (noun) +‎ lagun (friend).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /is̻enlaɡun/, [i.s̻ẽ̞n.la.ɣ̞ũn]

Noun[edit]

izenlagun inan

  1. (grammar) adnominal

Usage notes[edit]

Unlike normal adjectives (izenondo), which always come after the noun they modify and are fully declinable; adnominals are usually placed before the noun and are undeclinable. Most adnominals are derived from nouns, taking suffixes such as -ko, -en or -tar. See Category:Basque indeclinable adjectives for examples.
