Etymology[edit]

Formed from a Proto-Finnic root *toores, of Baltic origin (compare Lithuanian dõras (good)), with the suffix -e. The same reshaping has been applied in Karelian tuoreh and Votic toorõh. Estonian toores retains the original stem type.
