Etymology

Possibly from ç + earlier unattested *hun (cf. çerdhe, çakëll), a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *sewH- (to bear, give birth). Cognate to Ancient Greek υἱύς (huiús), Avestan 𐬵𐬏𐬥𐬎𐬱 (hūnuš, son), Old English sunu (son). Alternatively from a dialectal Italian cionno (penis), possibly through Venetian.

Noun

çun m (plural çuna, definite çuni, definite plural çunat)

  1. lad, boy, son
