Romanian

Etymology

Probably from în + cânta, based on French enchanter. Other theories include a direct derivation from Latin incantāre, present active infinitive of incantō (compare Aromanian ncãntu, ncãntari).

Verb

a încânta (third-person singular present încântă, past participle încântat) 1st conj.

  1. to charm, seduce, enchant
  2. to deceive, delude
