[edit]Etymology
[edit]đống (“pile”) + đa (“banyan”), means "Piles of Banyan". According to folk etymology, there is a story that, after the defeat of the Qing army (1788-1789), Emperor Quang Trung ordered his soldiers to collect the enemy's corpses into 12 wide pits for burial. But due to too many enemy corpses, high mounds were formed. Later on these mounds were overgrown with banyan trees.
