Etymology

From a West Semitic language, probably from a Canaanite word cognate with Hebrew לְבוֹנָה (ləḇōnā, “frankincense”) and Arabic لُبَان (lubān, “frankincense”), from Proto-West Semitic *laban- (“white”).
