Etymology[edit]

The country's name comes from the name of the mountain range, which in turn comes from Biblical Hebrew לְבָנוֹן(ləḇānôn), from Proto-Semitic *laban- (white) (compare Hebrew לָבָן(lāḇān, white), Arabic لَبَن(laban, milk)).
