[edit]Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ἀκατάστατος (akatástatos, “unstable, irregular”), with semantic loan from French désordonné, en désordre, as well as semantic loan from German unordentlich.[1] The Ancient Greek term is from ἀ- (a-, “a-, un-”) + an adjectival formation from καθίστημι (kathístēmi, “to set in order”).[2]
