Etymology

From the Mediaeval Byzantine Greek ἀπόκρισις (answer), from the ancient ἀπόκρισις (apókrisis, decision, answer). Synchronically analysable as απο- (from) +‎ κρίση (judgement, decision).[1]

For the medical sense[2], Katharevousa ἀπόκρισις from the ancient sense "excretion or secretion, separation"
