Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

The formation is similar to κόμαρος (kómaros) and κίσθαρος (kístharos). The suffix in "-αρος" points to a Pre-Greek word and connection with θύω (thúō, to rage, seethe) is a mere guess.
