[edit]Inherited from Byzantine Greek κλεισούρα (kleisoúra), from Late Latin clausūra with folk-etymological conversion of Latin claudō, claus- to κλείνω, κλείσ- (kleíno, kleís-) + -ούρα (-oúra).[1]
