  3. (of people) long established, with long experience (especially in a profession)

Usage notes[edit]

In general, for positive forms, παλιός is more common than παλαιός, Degrees of comparison forms: Comparative παλιότερος and the more frequent form παλαιότερος. Superlative: only παλαιότατος.
