Pronunciation

Verb

[edit]

буц (bucimpf

  1. (copulative) to be
бул сом домаbul som domaI was at home
  2. (auxiliary, future tense, intransitive) used to form the future tense of imperfect verbs
  3. (future tense) to want [with dative; or with infinitive]
    Synonyms: надумац (nadumac), сцец (scec)
я будзем чаюja budzem čajuI want tea

Usage notes

[edit]
  • Like in the East Slavic languages, usually replaced in the present tense with the pronoun.
  • The present tense conjugated forms are instead generally used in the past tense, with the conjugated verb in the past following or followed by the corresponding present tense conjugation of буц (buc), similar to Slovak.
  • In colloquial speech and writing, commonly goes after the object or subject complement in the clause, e.g. (вон) школяр є ((von) školjar je) instead of вон школяр (von školjar).
