Inherited from Old East Slavic мьнѣти (mĭněti) or мьнити (mĭniti), from Proto-Slavic *mьněti or *mьniti. Cognate to Lithuanian miñti (“to recall, to mention”), Latvian minêt (“to mention”), Ancient Greek μέμονα (mémona, “to remember”).
