From Old Church Slavonic небо ‎(nebo), from Proto-Slavic *nebo, from Proto-Indo-European *nébʰos ‎(cloud). Compare native Belarusian нёба ‎(njóba) from the same Proto-Slavic term. The same duality exists with Russian не́бо ‎(nébo) and нёбо ‎(njóbo).
