Borrowed from Russian ру́сло (rúslo). Morphologically equivalent to ру́ша (rúša, “to trample”) (dialectal) +‎ -сло (-slo).

Etymology

Presumably related to Lithuanian rusė́ti (“to flow”), rusnóti (“to flow slowly”). Compare the name of the Lithuanian river Raũsvė, and Rusni̇̀s, a right distributary of the Neman.
