Etymology

Borrowed from a Turkic language, ultimately from Proto-Turkic *yara- (to be beneficial, useful, successful). Compare Tatar ярату (yaratu), Bashkir яратыу (yaratıw) and Chuvash юрат (jurat). Cognates include Eastern Mari йӧраташ (jörataš) and Western Mari яраташ (jarataš).
