Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

The origin is uncertain. Martirosyan suggests derivation from the preposition առ ‎(aṙ, at, to, near by, before, etc.) and Proto-Armenian *(h)ič- ‎(site, settlement), a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *sed- ‎(to sit).

Արջոյ առիճ‎ ― Arǰoy aṙiča certain placename
