Old Armenian

Etymology

From Parthian zʿwr, zwr (zūr, deceit, falsehood; deceitful, false; vain, in vain). Compare Middle Persian [script needed] (zʿwr /⁠zūr⁠/), Persian زور (zūr), Avestan 𐬰𐬎𐬭𐬀 (zura); these are cognate with Sanskrit ह्वार (hvāra, going crookedly) and Old Church Slavonic зълъ (zŭlŭ, bad).
