Etymology[edit]

The root is կուլ- ‎(kul-), from Proto-Indo-European *gʷul- or *gʷl̥h₁-, +‎ -ան- ‎(-an-). Cognate with Latin gula, Proto-Slavic *glъtъ ‎(gullet) (Russian глотка ‎(glotka)), Ancient Greek δέλεαρ ‎(délear, bait). Ընկղմեմ ‎(Ənkłmem) may be related.
